Preparation Lesson Package

You’re planning to watch One Way To Paris with your group. To do this well, it's important to properly prepare this lesson within your organization. Take the time to reflect on your role in guiding and supporting young people using the film One Way To Paris. Whether you are a teacher, mentor, coach, trainer, youth worker, or group leader, you play an important role in the lives of young people. You provide structure, guidance, and sometimes you're a trusted confidant. But how do you shape that role? How do you make sure you're setting the right example? And to what extent can we give young people responsibility for one another?

You work daily with youth, each with their own challenges and insecurities. The film One Way To Paris shows how group dynamics, loneliness, grief, and loss can impact young people - and how our guidance can make a difference. But how far does our responsibility go? Would you, like the coach in the film, cycle after the group? Do you let go, or do you keep steering? When do you give young people space to make their own decisions, and when is it necessary to intervene?

We’ll also look at aftercare. What if the film stirs something in a young person? How do you ensure there’s enough support and guidance within your organization? What can we do to create a safe environment in which young people feel seen and heard?

This preparation offers space for reflection, dialogue, and collaboration. By considering these questions together, we gain concrete insights and make agreements that help in practice. Let’s explore together what lessons One Way To Paris offers and how we can apply them to our roles in guiding young people.
